Are you an artist in Excel, PowerPoint, or Word, carefully crafting beautiful business documents? Making the best-looking documents often involves lots of objects (e.g. charts, icons, and pictures) and the often frustrating Order Object options including Bring to Front and Send Backward (Bring Forward, Bring Forward, Bring Forward, Bring Forward x15 and its still not where I want it to be)
The Selection Pane is the solution
Open the Selection Pane from the Home tab, click Select and then Selection Pane. Use the Selection Pane to:
- Easily select any object – by clicking the name of the object – brilliantly useful when you have multiple objects close to each other
- Move objects forwards or backwards – by dragging them up and down (up is forwards)
- Name objects – making future selections easier (very useful in complex documents)
- Temporarily hide an object – by clicking the eye to the right of the object name
