Microsoft Windows has a fantastic feature called Virtual Desktops, that can help keep your workspace tidy and focused.
Each Virtual Desktop is almost like having another computer!
A good way to use Virtual Desktops is to have one for each type of work you do in a typical day. For example, if you work on Departmental tasks, Project work, and attend Meetings daily, you could set up three Virtual Desktops.
📑The main benefit is that it helps you keep each task separate without needing to close all of your important files every time.
How to Create a New Virtual Desktop:
a. At the bottom of your screen, to the right of the Search bar click the Task View icon (the icon looks slightly different depending on your version of Windows)

b. Click New desktop

c. Click on the name of your new desktop e.g. “Desktop 2”

In Virtual Desktop 2, you won’t see the files and apps that were open in Desktop 1! It’s a clean area to work.
Switching Between Desktops:
Need to get back to the work you were doing in Desktop 1?
Click the Task View icon then click Desktop 1
Closing a Desktop:
a. Click the Task View icon
b. Click the cross to close the desktop
