When using the webcam in Teams meetings if you use the option to swap your real background for an image you might have noticed that Teams is not perfect at cutting around you
Sometimes you lose an ear or some hair.
If you have a blank wall behind you the new Green screen settings can be used to improve the accuracy of the cut-out around you when using alternative backgrounds ![]()
The example on the left is the default settings, you can see the “Back to the future” (great film) photo effect where parts of Rob are disappearing. On the right, use the new green screen options with all of Robs’ fingers intact!

π΅οΈββοΈ Microsoft also says that the virtual background with a green screen consumes fewer system resources, allowing your Teams to run smoother.
To configuring the green screen in the Teams Desktop app
a. At the top-right of the screen click … then Settings
b. Click Devices, then scroll down below your webcam preview and switch on Green Screen
c. To the right of What colour is your background? click the colour square
d. In the webcam preview click once on the wall
